No Limits: Sectional Throwing to Achieve Scale
For many potters, larger scale on the wheel seems like the Grail that would open endless new expressive possibilities. Yet how to begin? The prospect of going big is daunting.
Stephen Procter will demonstrate techniques that any intermediate-level potter can use to build large vessels on the wheel. In the course of discussion and conversation WE will explore aspects of scale and ask participants to reflect on the signature qualities of their own work and what it brings to the world. You may be surprised to learn that in some ways, throwing big is easier than throwing small!
Participants will leave knowing and having tried all the core techniques and strategies Stephen uses to build large vessels on the wheel. In addition, we will discuss some of the "why's" of large scale and development of personal artistic voice.
Dates : Monday May 12th and Tuesday May 13, 10 am to 4:30 pm
